	Questioning

Selene looked out into the horizon. Just watching.

And thinking.

She was feeling terrible. One moment she wanted to fuck, the next she was questioning her and Michael's love.

What was going on?

What was she waiting for?

Maybe he wasn't the right guy after all?

But of course he was.

He treated her like a princess.

But why?

Because he loved her?

Or because of her body?

This has happened before.

They were all like that.

But Michael was different.

Wasn't he?

Of course he was.

She felt herself getting hot again, but didn't pay attention to it.

Besides Michael had gone somewhere.

He said he was just going to the store down the street.

But it's been an hour.

Where was he?

Was he cheating on her?

No.

She would smell the scent.

Michael drove into the driveway.

Was Selene okay?

She was acting depressed.

She acted like she didn't love him.

Like she was tired of him.

He was nervous.

He grabbed his surprise for her oiut of the car and started for the house.

He told her he would be really quick.

Why did he say that?

He knew he was really going out of town.

Did she know what he was really doing?

He couldn't find her in the house.

Did she leave?

Just then he heard her singing.

She loved to sing.

She had such a beautiful voice for it.

He walked out to the lake, set down his things and walked over to her.

Singing helped her think.

Oh god. Where was he?

Suddenly his arms wrapped around her back.

She pulled away. And stopped singing.

She looked out into the distance again.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing." She lied.

He could always see through her, though.

He could see pain.

She started crying.

He tried to reach for her but she pulled away.

She knew he was doing something she didn't want her to know about.

But why?

"You were gone a long time." She said. "Where were you?"

She could smell perfume.

"Selene," He said. "You know i love you."

"No. You don't."

"What makes you think that?" He looked hurt.

"Where were you? Just tell me the truth."

"At the store."

"Michael, I'd rather you break up with me rather then cheat on me." She finally said.

"What? I'm Not cheating on you, Selene. I have no reason even if I wanted to."

"THEN WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU? WHY THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU SMELL LIKE PERFUME? THE ONLY THING WE EVER FUCKING DO ANYMORE IS HAVE SEX!"

She started sobbing.

"Selene." He said calmly. "I love you. I'm not cheating on you. You looked depressed lately, so I've been leaving you alone because I know you like to think things through. I was in Grand Junction at the mall looking for something to cheer you up. I smell like perfume because I was looking for something for you and some little kid came up and squirted some on me. Come with me."

His explaination was shocking.

Of course.

He did love her.

She fllowed him to the lake. He picked up the roses and handed them to her.

They were beautiful.

Just like him.

Her favorite too.

He grabbed something out of his pocket just then.

It was a box.

A small black velvet box.

He got on one knee.

Her eyes widened.

Was he really...?

"Selene. I love you. Please say yes."

Tears started to pour out of her eyes.

She never dreamed of this.

She never could see herself in this kind of situation.

She smiled.

Her bright brilliant smile.

"Of course."

She dropped down and hugged him.

That afternoon in the beautiful plains that were next to the lake was the best she's ever experienced yet.

Everything was in order again.
